Lucky Last

Their love story
Newlyweds Karly McNeil, 30 and Liam Chisholm, 34 were set up by friends on a blind date at the Grovedale Pub just prior to Christmas 2016. One thing led to another and Liam got down on his sandy knee at Jan Juc Beach on Christmas Eve 2018. On the 14th of March 2020 they were officially the last couple married at Oneday Estate before COVID-19 changed the world forever.

Their big day
105 of their closest friends and family watched Karly walk down the aisle to “Can’t help falling in love with you” beautifully sung by local songstress Kim Cooper. Karly was accompanied by her three best friends Tayla, Nadine and Christine, and wore a stunning gown from Luv Bridal in Moonee Ponds. Liam had his lifelong mates Luke and Sam by his side for the big day and they looked resplendent in their suits from local Geelong tailor Eddie Elias.

Karly and Liam had organised the biggest, tastiest grazing table on earth, so by the time they returned from their photo shoot in the vineyard, the party was well under way! The guests raved about the Oneday Estate wines, which Karly and Liam knew only too well, being locals and frequent visitors. Sticks & Bones, a local catering company operating from their food truck, fed the merry crowd brilliantly.

There were some special touches on the day like Liam’s K&L sign that lit up and the stunning flower arrangements. However, as Karly said, “the room has enough character that we didn’t have to add too much”. The eclectic nature of Oneday Estate with its recycled timbers and irons leaves you gobsmacked and provides such a unique backdrop.

The newlywed’s planned honeymoon to Europe will have to come another time due to the pandemic. Karly and Liam still managed to get away down the coast and reflect on what was an unforgettable evening at Oneday Estate.

Their advice
The secret to having a great wedding is the communication between the couple and the Event Manager, and Karly raved about the support she’s been provided. The experience and calmness of Oneday’s team was a blessing and made the organisation a seamless process.
On a last note, here’s Liam’s best recommendation: “Buy your bride flowers on the day to make her feel appreciated for arranging the day or she will turn into Bridezilla!”. Words of wisdom from a married man.

If you’re looking for an authentic, down to earth, bespoke setting for a wedding you can’t go past Oneday Estate.
